TAB innovation voucher approved for feasibility study on the development of a flexible, textile-based touchpad – FlexPad

The aim is to develop a new type of touchpad based on flexible conductive components that can be integrated into textile surfaces such as workwear. The operating principle is based on small conductive surfaces that are positioned on two opposite sides of a separating plane. These three-dimensional elements can be formed in large numbers next to each other as a surface and are linked to each other via electrical connections. Using this technology, capacitive changes initiated by finger movements can be analysed in special electronics and then converted into commands and the display systems. The project aims to investigate the feasibility of this pad system.

The project is funded by the Free State of Thuringia under the number 2023 IID 0006 and co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
