Innovation premium 2021-2027 SAB for the development of an intelligent system for monitoring the weight of rucksacks using strain sensors

In this project, a system for controlling the weight of rucksacks using strain sensors is to be investigated.

ITP GmbH wants to develop an intelligent rucksack with an integrated sensor surface and smart shoulder straps that react sensitively to the sensor surfaces. The straps are designed to move the measuring and control unit. These can be belts with woven-in conductive threads or a specially designed textile surface that triggers a corresponding signal when tension is applied. The aim is to develop an electronic module together with the textile sensor surface that indicates to the user whether the weight of the rucksack is permissible or too high.

At the same time, the sensor component is to be developed in such a way that it recognises a certain deviation from the prescribed permissible weight. The sensor is flexible, thin and lightweight.

The project is funded by the Free State of Saxony under the application number 100717846 and co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
