The ITP is currently carrying out research on the realisation and utilisation of textile generators. By this we (for the most part) mean textile structures for the conversion of kinetic and thermal energy, as well as electromagnetic radiation (light) into electrical energy.

In addition to the intrinsic advantages of energy harvesters, these systems also have properties that only textiles can offer:

  • Drapability / flexibility
  • Can be packaged in (almost) any form
  • Low weight
  • Breathable

The current research projects include:

  • Piezo fibres
  • Solar cells
  • Thermoelectric generators
  • Inductive generators

  • Textile Solarzelle aus dem Projekt „TexSiSolar“
